Avalon Beach Information
Additional Information Protected Beaches: For your protection, bathing and swimming are permitted only at protected beaches where lifeguards are on duty 10am to 5pm, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Use of rafts, surf boards and catamarans are permitted only at designated beaches.

Raft Beaches: 12th, 18th, 24th, 28th, 35th, 40th, 50th, 61st, 69th, 78th, 83rd,94th, 96th, 100th, 117th, Streets
Surfing Beaches: 10th, 30th 81st, and 110th Streets
Kayaks: 122nd through 126th
Beach Conduct: Picnicking on the beach is permitted, However, please place waste in trash and recycling containers. Fires, alcoholic beverages, bottles, glass, sharp objects, loud noise, indecent language or actions are Strictly Prohibited. No sleeping on the beach or boardwalk from sunset to sunrise. Trespassing on the dunes and in areas posted for endangered Beach Nesting Birds is Strictly prohibited. Please use paths provided.
Boardwalk Rules: Avalon has a one-half mile boardwalk for your walking pleasure. Bicycles are permitted on the boardwalk ONLY between 5am and 10am. Motorized bicycles, skateboards, roller-skates, roller blades and mopeds are not permitted on the boardwalk at anytime.
Public Dock Rules: The use of the public docks shall be at the risk of the user. Use of the public docks during the hours of darkness are strictly prohibited. Alcoholic beverages and picnicking are strictly prohibited .
Beach Tag Rates
The Avalon Beach Tag Booth will be open weekends starting on April 6th from 10:00am through 4:00pm; the Booth opens for the season daily starting on April 29th. Beach tags are required for all individuals 12 years or older between the hours of 10:00am until 5:00pm from May 25th through September 2nd, 2019. Daily and weekly tags will be available starting May 26th; daily tags cost $6, and weekly tags costs $12.
Avalon is proud to offer free seasonal beach tags to all veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Active duty military members and their immediately families also may enjoy the beaches without a beach tag.

All persons 12 and over must display tags Friday of Memorial Weekend to Monday of Labor Day Weekend,
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Seasonal tags through May 31st $26
Seasonal tags beginning June 1st $21
Weekly tags (Saturday – Sunday) $12
Daily tags $6
Seasonal, weekly and daily tags may be purchased from inspectors on the beach or from the Beach Tag Office during the summer season.
To purchase tags by mail, send check with name and address and the number of tags desired.

General Beach Information
Swimming, rafts and surfboards are permitted at designated beaches only. Unless noted otherwise designated beaches are for swimming only. Rafts allowed at 83rd, 87th, 93rd, 96th, 100th, 108th and 117th Streets.
The following are prohibited on the beach: Picnics, Alcoholic Beverages, Fires, Glass Bottles, Sleeping from sunset to sunrise
SAILCRAFT must be licensed and beached at designated areas only
Vehicles are permitted on the beach by permit only from October 1 through March 31st. For information regarding 2008 permits, call 368-5102. Permits are issued ONLY during the month of September. |
